FAQs
Where are you located?
The Mermaids Holiday is located on a canal just one house from the main river. Our home is on a dead end street, predominantly full-time and weekend residents. Hospital Hole is a quick kayak downstream.
Getting around
A car or taxi service is necessary to explore the area. Covered parking for one vehicle and uncovered driveway parking for two additional vehicles.
There is an excellent Italian restaurant less than a half-a-mile away (one guest who has lived in Chicago & Atlanta stated it is among the best she has ever tasted). Additionally there is a gas station/convenience store nearby on Shoal Line Road. You can kayak downstream to Rogers Park and Upper Deck restaurant but will need to secure kayaks while visiting them.
Will we see manatees?
Spotting a manatee in their natural habitat is truly a marvelous experience. Also known as a “sea cow,” these wrinkled, leathery creatures can weigh 1,000-3,500 pounds. Manatees are more commonly spotted in the winter months from November to March when the Weeki Wachee (72-74 F) is warmer than the Gulf of Mexico. Our guests have seen manatees year-round while kayaking and in the canal.

Do you allow pets?
Well behaved dogs are welcome, just please let us know. We provide throw blankets to cover furniture if your furry family member enjoys chillaxin on the furniture. Please make sure your pet is dry before letting them in the house. There is a gated and fenced pet pooping area with loose gravel on the side of the house. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Extra cleaning fee if poop is not picked up & thrown away. There is a medium sized crate if needed. Please have pets poop in designated area only - this keeps the yard clean and also prevents runoff into canal (yuck).
